Apple released macOS Tahoe on Monday (15th Sept 2025). As usual in the run up to a new macOS release, we have been testing MacVector 18.8 on development and public betas of macOS Tahoe. With macOS Tahoe’s Liquid Glass appearance we have come across a very minor display glitch. But otherwise we are happy to report that there are no other issues and so we can say that MacVector 18.8 is fully supported on macOS Tahoe.

Liquid Glass
With Liquid Glass Apple have made many changes to the way that windows are displayed. Two changes are that windows have more rounded corners. This means extra space has been added to windows to avoid any content inside that window being cut off by the rounded corner. Another change is that the top menu bar is now transparent whereas in macOS Sequoia it was opaque.
These two changes have resulted in a display glitch that MacVector’s floating Analyses Tools toolbar now slightly obscures the text in the top MacVector menu bar.

Workarounds
We will be releasing a new minor bug fix release to fix this. It is purely a display glitch and no functionality is affected. However, in the meantime if it bothers you then there are multiple quick workarounds.
Show menu bar background
There’s a new setting in macOS Tahoe to show menu bar background. This restores the behaviour shown in macOS Sequoia so that the menu bar is no longer transparent and so is not obscured by the Analyses Tools toolbar

- Click the top left Apple menu and select System Settings.
- Choose Menu Bar
- Toggle show menu bar background to ON.

Use Black Text in the Menu Bar
The text in the top menu bar changes dynamically between white and black text dependent on the underlying wallpaper you are using. If the wallpaper at that point is a light colour then the text will be black. Black text will show through the Analyses Tools toolbar and the display glitch is far less noticeable.
So if you have white text change your wallpaper to a lighter one and it will now be black text.

Hide the Analyses Tools
Finally if you do not actually use the Analyses Tools toolbar then you can just hide it.
- Window | Hide Analyses Tools

MacVector 18.8.2
We’ve also just released MacVector 18.8.2. This is a minor bug fix release to our latest release with a few bug fixes (see release notes). You will be prompted to upgrade shortly, but you can also download the new version directly.
