Operating System
MacVector 18.7 currently requires a 64 bit Mac running macOS 10.13 High Sierra to macOS Sequoia (15). MacVector does not run on Mac OS 9 (“Classic”) or on Microsoft Windows “PC” computers. See our compatibility table for more comprehensive information.
Hardware
Any 64 bit Macintosh computer capable of running Mac OS X 10.9 or later is sufficient to run MacVector. MacVector is a universal binary and will run natively on Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.
If you intend to take advantage of the Assembler Next Generation Sequencing support and perform alignments of many millions of reads against entire genomes, we recommend that you use a machine with a minimum of 8 GB of RAM, with 16 GB or more being preferable. RAM is generally more important than raw CPU speed.
